Our Vision
Our Vision
We hope to close the literacy gap in minority children: all children, no matter their skin color, should have the chance to fall in love with books. Access to reading materials and books can jumpstart a student's learning, especially in fourth grade, when reading becomes more advanced. With access to books at home as well as in school, minority children are more likely to read more often and gain a connection to reading. The best way to do that is to have them within reach at all times. We provide minority students with at-home, online access, so students can keep reading and learning during the COVID-10 pandemic without risking their health.
How We Can Help
To do this the team has decided to create a website. our site will compile a list of online reading resources and websites that will support these minority children in their literacy journey. These free resources will be easily accessible to the children and their parents. This site will act as a help desk for parents so that they both navigate these sites easily and understand what online reading resources are there for their children. During this period of time, we hope to inspire children to continue their reading journeys at home in a way that is fun, easily accessible, and most importantly, safe. Your child's literacy is important and should not have to be put on hold due to outside circumstances.
